Our vulture Stanislav moved to Bulgaria in early 2021, where he will be released into the wild in the spring. Vultures were nearly extinct here, but thanks to the efforts of Green Balkans and others, the area is now once again a safe place for these birds of prey to fly around, form breeding pairs and raise their young. On this page we will keep you updated on the events surrounding Stanislav!

04/06/2021- Griffon vulture Stanislav released in Bulgaria

Eindhoven Zoo's griffon vulture Stanislav was released into a Bulgarian nature reserve on Thursday, June 3. With the reintroduction of the vulture, the Dutch zoo contributes to increasing the population of griffon vultures in Bulgaria. Read here the full news release, or view thevideo.

22/04/2021- Griffon vultures Eindhoven Zoo become parents again

A griffon vulture has hatched in Eindhoven Zoo's vulture aviary. The young was born earlier this month after a 50-day incubation period. Read here the full news release

23/02/2021- Stanislav arrived in Bulgaria

Vulture Stanislav has arrived safely in Bulgaria. The bird of prey from Eindhoven Zoo left Monday, Feb. 8, for his new home, the Green Balkans sanctuary. The Mierlo Zoo is working with this organization to reintroduce Stanislav to the wild. Read here the full news release, or view thevideo.

04/02/2021 - Griffon vulture leaves for Bulgaria.

Eindhoven Zoo will wave off griffon vulture Stanislav to Bulgaria next week. The bird of prey will be released into the wild there this spring. In this way the park in Mierlo contributes to the conservation of the population of European vultures in Bulgaria. Read here the full news release

10/12/2020 - Eindhoven Zoo prepares for eviction.

Eindhoven Zoo can start preparing for the release of griffon vulture Stanislav. All papers for the departure of the bird of prey have been completed and the vulture will soon leave for Bulgaria. There the griffon vulture will eventually be released to contribute to the conservation of the population of European vultures in the southeastern European country. Read here FULL NEWS RELEASE.

23/03/2020 - Griffon vulture Stanislav hatched from egg.

A griffon vulture was born in Eindhoven Zoo this month. After incubating for 50 days, the youngster hatched and was found to be a male. The chick has been named Stanislav. Read here FULL NEWS RELEASE.
