Releasing griffon vulture Zivka

Zivka to Bulgaria

Our vulture Zivka will leave for Bulgaria in late 2021, where she will eventually be released into the wild. The vultures were virtually extinct in Bulgaria, but thanks to the efforts of Green Balkans and others, the area is now once again a safe place for these birds of prey to fly around, form breeding pairs and raise their young. With the release of Zivka, Eindhoven Zoo contributes to bringing the vulture population back to normal.

About Zivka

Zivka hatched at Eindhoven Zoo in April 2021. She is the sister of the previously released Stanislav. Recently, she lived with her parents in our park. Zivka is also eligible to be released in Bulgaria. Eindhoven Zoo has therefore initiated this process together with Green Balkans and Stichting Wildlife.
