Vulture from Eindhoven Zoo to be released in Bulgaria
Thursday, January 4, is a great day for Eindhoven Zoo. The youngest vulture will then be transferred by plane to a release project in Bulgaria!
The vulture, born on May 23, 2016 at Eindhoven Zoo, will leave the park to continue living in the wild in Bulgaria. This is great news, because in this way Eindhoven Zoo is helping to increase the vulture population in the Balkans.
Green Balkans Foundation
The release of the vulture is through Green Balkans Foundation, which is supported by our own Stichting Wildlife. Green Balkans provides various conservation projects. One of these is a program to maintain and increase the population of European vultures, particularly in Bulgaria.
Not the first vulture
Eindhoven Zoo has cooperated with the Green Balkans Foundation before. Indeed, in 2015, another vulture, also born in Eindhoven Zoo, was also released in Bulgaria. This vulture was spotted in Poland in the spring of 2016!
Team Eindhoven Zoo and the volunteers of Stichting Wildlife wish the vulture a fantastic life. Have a good trip!
