Eindhoven Zoo can open its doors again for visitors starting Saturday, May 16

Eindhoven Zoo may open from Saturday, May 16. The first days are reserved for subscription holders and from Wednesday, May 20, all visitors are welcome again. To guarantee the maximum capacity, visits are only possible after online reservation. Eindhoven Zoo was able to make this decision today after consultation with the Safety Region.

The park closed its doors on March 14 due to corona measures. In the intervening weeks, the zoo on the border of Nuenen and Mierlo prepared for the one-and-a-half-meter society.

"We wrote a good protocol and applied the measures in the park. We have also already tested this extensively with employees. The results have all been evaluated this week with the Safety Region and as a result we can now say with certainty that we are completely ready to offer our guests a safe, responsible and, above all, wonderful day out," says general manager Chantal Ermers.

Crowd managers

Adjustments made include establishing a fixed walking route in the zoo and closing indoor enclosures as stables to the public. There will also be no feeding demonstrations. Specially appointed crowd managers will see to it that no group formation occurs. The terraces will also remain closed for a while, but visitors can pick up food and drinks. Restrooms will also be open.

To ensure that guests can keep a meter and a half away, a maximum number of visitors has been set. That number will be incrementally increased in the coming period. To ensure this maximum, visitors must register online in advance and reserve a time slot; this also applies to season ticket holders and people who have purchased tickets through promotional partners. This time slot reservation itself of course costs nothing.

No end time

"And once you're inside, you can take all the time you want. After all, there is no end time to a visit," Ermers assures. "This way, visitors can enjoy the park and the animals at their own pace."
