Eindhoven Zoo residents get treats and Christmas trees during the holidays

Christmas is not only extra cozy for people, Eindhoven Zoo's residents can also look forward to two special days. The enclosures will be decorated with Christmas trees and the animals will be spoiled with festive meals.

The rhinos in the park will be put in extra limelight to make their first Christmas party at the animal park in Mierlo special. For example, Christmas trees filled with vegetables or fruit will be placed around their enclosure for visitors to give to the animals together with the keepers.

The rhinos, of course, are not the only animals celebrating Christmas. On both holidays, the ring-tailed lemurs are treated to a special Christmas breakfast and the lions, elephants and chimpanzees can expect an extra festive meal. On Christmas Day, the wild boars get to scrounge up their lunch under the Christmas tree. On Boxing Day, the collared bears get this opportunity.

MarshmallowsVisitors to the park can warm themselves by fire pits and feast on warm marshmallows throughout the day.

"We enjoy spoiling the animals extra at Christmas and it's super nice to see how they react to the perks," says Chantal Ermers, general manager of Eindhoven Zoo. "These tasty meals, which often include extra enrichment, are a real treat for the animals."

During Christmas, the animals in Animal Kingdom get a special Christmas meal. Come and enjoy it!
