Deejays Radio Veronica swing like a monkey in Eindhoven Zoo

Monkey tricks. Visitors to Eindhoven Zoo (the Family Zoo) will experience this even more than before from Wednesday, June 15. On this day - with evening opening - the newly built indoor and outdoor enclosure for a group of seven chimpanzees will be opened. Radio Veronica's afternoon show Martijn In De Middag (with DJ Martijn Muijs and sidekick Nicky Verhage) will broadcast live from Eindhoven Zoo on 15 June from 4 to 8 pm. That day DJs Erik de Zwart and Jeroen van Inkel, among others, will help take care of the animals in the park, while Nicky Verhage will report as a raving reporter. There will also be a visit to the temporarily opened Banana Bar.

Eindhoven Zoo will be open until 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 15, due to the opening of the new chimpanzee enclosure. Mayor Link is also coming to take a look. He will register the new residents in the population register of the municipality of Geldrop-Mierlo. Park manager Martin van Hees will deliver the register to the mayor at 11:00 a.m. from a great height via a zip line. Three hundred pupils of elementary school 't Schrijverke from Mierlo will attend at the invitation of Eindhoven Zoo.

Construction blog

The construction of the enclosure for the chimpanzees, who recently came over from Safaripark Beekse Bergen, involved an investment of about 700,000 euros. Retrieved fromwww.dierenrijk.nl/chimpanseeverblijf is a construction blog that keeps up with all the news and shows the progress of the project.

Park manager Martin van Hees says, "The enclosure is located near the entrance plaza and is attached to the new indoor playground 'Swing like a monkey'. From there, visitors can look inside at the chimpanzees and playfully mimic the animals. The outdoor enclosure, a nice big island, also looks great. We will make it a festive day and evening on June 15. There is also a mobile climbing rock present. It's also fantastic that Radio Veronica spontaneously offered to come and broadcast live from 16.00 to 20.00 and roll up their sleeves to help take care of our animals in Eindhoven Zoo! Among other things, they help the caretakers clean the tigers' outside enclosure, feed the polar bears, chimpanzees and ring-tailed lemurs and assist with the elephant show and seal training."

Erik de Zwart

Radio Veronica-Station Director and DJ Erik de Zwart is enthusiastic: "We think it is great fun that the chimpanzees are named after our DJs Jeroen van Inkel, Martijn Muijs, Dennis Hoebee, Gert Jan van Ackooij, Silvan Stoet, Michael Blijleven and also myself. With some I see similarities and that is guaranteed to bring some monkey business to Eindhoven Zoo."

It will be a very special and musical day for Eindhoven Zoo on June 15. Everyone who wants to come and swing like a monkey with the newest inhabitants of Eindhoven Zoo and the deejays from Radio Veronica is welcome from 10.00 to 20.30! At 5.10 pm you can also hear live on Radio Veronica the unveiling of the special Eindhoven Zoo/Radio Veronica photo board at the chimpanzee enclosure. Between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. you can also listen to reports about the deejays who help take care of the animals. But the most fun, of course, is to visit in person!

Banana Bar

Eindhoven Zoo is also operating a temporary Banana Bar at the chimpanzee enclosure on June 15 and June 19 (Father's Day). Of course, at Eindhoven Zoo we keep it clean in terms of entertainment. Visitors (and of course especially the fathers on June 19) can work with bananas themselves. A few Eindhoven Zoo babes will guide them in activities such as banana hopping, banana slapping and banana catching. More information about the total Banana Bar concept will follow in a later press release.
