Small reindeer born in Eindhoven Zoo

A little reindeer was born at Eindhoven Zoo this week. The little girl, named Frya, was able to stand on her own legs after only an hour and explore the enclosure with her mother and the other three reindeer at the zoo on the border of Mierlo and Nuenen.

Reindeer live naturally on tundra of North America, northern Europe and Asia. There they live in herds of sometimes as many as a thousand animals. Young are born after a gestation period of seven to eight months. A female usually gives birth to one young.
