Canadian or European beaver, who am I? You won't be able to tell because there are only slight differences. I will give it away: Canadian beavers live in Eindhoven Zoo. Did you know that European beavers also live in the Netherlands? Here we have been reintroduced into the wild after we disappeared completely. That is called 'reintroduction'.

The best builders in the world

I am important to nature. When I make a dam in a stream from branches and mud, a lake forms behind it. I use the lake to get close to tree stumps and branches, so I can easily eat their bark. Often in the middle of the lake I build our house; the castle. It sticks out above the water but has an under-water entrance. In and around the lake live plants and animals that would not be there without me.
