Polar bears Eindhoven Zoo named 'Nick & Simon'

The names of the newborn polar bear twins in Eindhoven Zoo are known! Via the website dierenrijk.nl everyone could send in names, which resulted in over 1000 entries. Eight times the suggestion 'Nick & Simon' was made. And that combination is the result!

The famous singing duo of the same name from Volendam reacted enthusiastically to this news and will surely visit again. On Sunday, March 20, the winners of the name and photo contest will be put in the spotlight and there will be lots of fun activities during the special Nick&Simon Stall Party in Eindhoven Zoo, the Family Zoo.

Nick & Simon warmly congratulated Eindhoven Zoo and said they were very surprised and honored that the polar bears were named after them. The two Volendam singers will probably come to Nuenen again to meet their namesakes.

Birth sign

On Sunday, March 20, starting at 11 a.m., the big Nick&Simon Stall Party will take place where the winners of the name and photo contest will be presented with their prizes. The winners of the name contest will all receive an annual pass for the whole family which means that over thirty people will be made very happy. Also waiting for Gérard van Drunen, the creator of the winning photo around the contest that was launched when the polar bears were recently allowed to go outside for the first time, is, among other things, a year card.
Park manager Martin van Hees and Eindhoven Zoo staff will give all visitors a warm welcome to the polar bear enclosure on Sunday morning from 11:00 am. There the birth sign will also be unveiled. Then polar bear mother Frimas will come out with twins Nick & Simon to enjoy a delicious ice cream cake. There is also an equally delicious and appropriate treat for visitors.

Snow cannon and skating rink

During the Nick&Simon Stall Festival (on the last day before spring begins), there will be plenty of winter fun. After all, the event revolves around the polar bears... With ice-cold treats, an ice skating rink and snow cannon for children, Koek&Zopie sales and opportunities to throw snowballs, it will be a (polar) bear fun day!

Discounts for twins

Good news for all twins! When they show up at the Eindhoven Zoo box office on March 20, they will receive a 50% discount on the admission price in the form of a '2 for the price of 1' promotion when they show their ID card. And of course, it's even more fun if these twins wear the same outfit.
